At the end of the Limestone Way

St Michael’s Church, Rocester, near the end of the Limestone Way

If you’ve just read the end of my Limestone Way series, you will have read that the walk ends in Rocester in a rather lacklustre way next to a building that looks like some sort of modern office block, but which is actually a school with a giant JCB logo outside it.

As a view to end a walk on, it was rubbish. So rubbish that I didn’t even bother taking a photograph of it. So instead I have arbitrarily reassigned the end of the Limestone Way to be this church instead.

It’s St Michael’s Church in Rocester and is, actually, very close to the end of the Limestone Way so it’s not a major relocation.

Looking at the church you notice something odd. Initially it looks big. But when you look at it, it looks small. It looks wide but there’s not many windows which suggests there’s not much depth. Is this a deceptive church? Possibly. I don’t know. I didn’t investigate inside. But it does have a nice striped effect on the roof. And frankly is more interesting to look at than a school.

Have your say
