Cove Harbour

Approaching Cove Harbour

So as you may have noticed, my series on the Southern Upland Way ended the other day as I reached the terminus at Cockburnspath. And that means that this series of Sunday Pictures based on the walk must also end. But not before we have one last picture.

This photograph is of the delightful Cove Harbour, about a mile or so before the end of the Southern Upland Way.

Cove Harbour’s not actually on the Southern Upland Way. You have to take a slight detour to visit it, but it’s an attractive little spot and one which is well worth visiting. It was once used by many fishermen, and whilst most of the fishing has either moved or gone, some lobster and crab fishing still goes on here at this quiet, tranquil little cove.

It would be an idyllic place to end the walking trail, but that can’t be. Instead the Southern Upland Way ends near a car maintenance garage up the road, near a bus stop and a busy main road. It’s not quite the same. It really is not quite the same.

Have your say
