When it comes to music about hiking, well there’s Ewan Macoll with that rambler song. But good as it is, it’s not exactly rocking. Unlike this track, Roam, from the B-52s.

Okay, so it’s not exactly about hiking, but the lyrics share some of the reasons I like to strap the boots on and go wandering. Especially the bit about “dancing down those dirty and dusty trails”.

Well, okay, I don’t think I’ve ever danced down the Pennine Way. But when I head out to explore, to “take it hip to hip rock it through the wilderness”, Roam’s always a song that’s lurking somewhere in my mind.
