Southern Upland Wordle

Southern Upland Way Wordle

If you’ve been thinking that things have been a trifle quiet round here, you’d be right. Part of the reason for that is because I’ve been spending a lot of time writing up my account of walking the Southern Upland Way and it’s taking a lot longer than I’d initially hoped for the good reason that I wrote a lot whilst I was away. Indeed I wrote so much that I’m probably going to abridge the website version, leaving the full on glory for the e-book version.

The way I do these things is that I write most of it whilst away then type it up and edit it when back. The writing is the easier part. Typing it up and making it into a more readable state is a longer process. The good news is that the other day I got to the half way point, both of the walk and of the book, so it’s “all down here” from now!

And because I’m half way through, I thought I’d celebrate by doing a Wordle on the text so far.

Wordle’s are lovely. Basically the app takes all the text and shows the most common words in an artistic form. This one was created using 22,338 words and thanks to it you can see there was a lot of forest, a lot of rain, a lot of paths and a huge amount of justs. Which suggests to me I should get my thesaurus out I think.

I’ll leave you to assess why “bus” and “cheese” score so highly as well.
