At the start of the Clarendon Way

Some walks start in the middle of nowhere. Some start in shopping centres. And some start next to cathedrals.

Actually, in my experience very few start at cathedrals, but one of the few that do is the Clarendon Way, a mere 24 mile trail that links the cathedrals of Salisbury and Winchester.

By itself, it’s not a massive walk, but when combined with the St Swithun’s Way and the North Downs Way, you get a modern day Pilgrims Way that will take you all the way to Cantebury, Where you’ll find a cathedral. But then pilgrims would expect that.

Whether you’re religious or not, starting at a cathedral certainly gives a sense of occassion.
