For a couple of years I worked with an Australian woman. One Christmas I suddenly had a moment of curiosity and asked her what was on Christmas cards in Australia.

She told me they had lots of pictures of snow, robins and things. Basically winter scenes. Like we have in Britain.

“But it’s the middle of the summer in Australia,” I said. “It doesn’t snow at Christmas.”

She paused for a moment, stared at me a few seconds, and replied “Yeah, that’s a bit strange. I’ve never thought of that before.”

But then, how often does it snow in Britain on Christmas Day?

Happy Crimbo everyone. Hope you enjoy your Christmas Day barbecue.

After I wrote this, I sat at my computer for a moment, and slowly thought “I’m sure I’ve told this anecdote before…” Still, at least I didn’t use the same picture.

Rambling Man will be back in the New Year.
