At the top of a fell, and this time wide awake

Sam and Catherine on top of Table Mountain, in the Brecon Beacons

Almost two years ago we had a family holiday in the Lake District with our then nine month old Son, Sam. And on a couple of occasions during that trip, we headed up hillsides as a family, with Sam in a baby carrier. I even did a video about it.

And at each of the three fells we tackled summit we got to, said child got there and was fast asleep.

For various reasons, Sam hasn’t been up a hill since. Well until a few weeks ago when we spent some time in the Brecon Beacons. Now eighteen months old, he made it up to the 451m high Table Mountain, which overlooks the village of Crickhowell, and got to admire the impressive view.

Most importantly, this time he was wide awake.

A momentous moment indeed.
