The Swindale Round

On a glorious May bank holiday Monday, what better thing to do than spend the day exploring Swindale, and the four most easterly of the Wainwright Fells?

With the sun shining brightly, and a sky that was a vivid blue, it was a fine day for walking up Selside Pike, Branstree, Tarn Crag and Grey Crag.

Walked on 7 May 2018.

Selside Pike

Starting the day with a hike from gorgeous Swindale, up to one of the four most easterly Wainwrights.

Branstree

Published 8 July 2018

Follow the fence to Branstree, calling at the survey pillar and a false summit that’s more impressive than the real thing.

Tarn Crag

Published 15 July 2018

A mini Tower of Sauron, and an abruptly ending wall.

Grey Crag

Published 22 July 2018

Grey Crag. Most certainly not Gray. That’s somewhere completely different.
