The Closest Bit of the Peak District National Park To My House

Published 10 October 2021

It’s been quite some time since I last did a video. But I couldn’t resist doing this one.

Whilst out on walking the GM Ringway, I took a slight detour about half a mile off the route. Why? Because if I did I could cross into the Peak District National Park at a point that is the closest bit of the National Park to my house. Behold, the excitement of visiting OS Grid Reference SK00188939, which is the junction of Shiloh Road and Hollinsmoor Road, Mellor, on the Greater Manchester/Derbyshire border. And it’s four miles from my house.

So what does the closest bit of the Peak District National Park to my house look like? Watch the video and find out.

Don’t worry, I’m not about to abandon the written form and go full on YouTuber or anything. But there may just be a few more videos every now and then in the future.
