A Rather Cold Looking Bench

Bench in Hay Dale

It’s funny how your mind plays tricks on you. I always have this thing in my mind that I’ve barely done any walking through lots of snow, only to search through old photographs showing me clearly wandering through snow-filled moorland on the Pennine Way, up Ben Nevis and lots more.

Yet despite this, only the Limestone Way springs to mind. Probably because we spent a long weekend walking down ice filled lanes without any of those snow-shoe things that would have given us anywhere near a decent grip.

Perhaps the reason why it was so memorable though was the overall weather. The ground may have been full of ice and snow, but the skies were fantastic. Snow is all well and good, but what you really want when walking in it is some stunning bright sunshine and a gloriously blue sky.

Have that and whilst the going may be tough, you just won’t want to stop.
