The Point Master

Saturday 10 June 2006. A substantial amount of the country was watching some football match or other. England was involved. Don’t ask me much more than that cos I can’t tell you. What I can tell you was that the Peak District was deserted.

We’d headed north for the weekend with a friend for the annual Saddleworth Whit Friday brass band contest. The band contests are an institution; a fantastic celebration of a wonderful music form.

But they were on Friday so what better way to spend the Saturday than a good walk on the Edale Skyline? Home of dramatic scenery, dramatic views and dramatic photographs.

And a friend pointing the way.
